Manu O Kū (Hawaiian bird’s name of White Fairy Tern) are small seabirds found across the tropical oceans of the world. On the main Hawaiian Islands, it thrives and raises its young only on southern O‘ahu and remote Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Manu-o-ku spend the day hunting at sea as far as 120 miles from their roost, before returning home in the afternoon. In 2007, the City and County of Honolulu designated the Manu O Kū the city’s official bird. Read more (PDF).
